On Thursday this week, Dec 15th, 9.30 – 11.30am there is a Christmas Charity Coffee Morning in the hall raising money for Brecon Food Bank. Please come along if you can.

Cakes would be very much appreciated or a raffle prize.

On Friday, Dec 16th, 3-7pm, there is Llangors Christmas Market, a joint venture between the shop and the Community Centre. There are lots of stalls booked, some will be in the hall and others in the car park.

There will be mulled wine and mince pies raising money for the Community Centre. We are also having a raffle.

LLANGORS BUSY BEES

Thanks to everyone who responded to the request for ‘busy bees’ to help maintain the communal area around the Community Shop, Community Centre and Children’s Play Park.

The coronavirus pandemic, with subsequent closure of many local facilities for long periods of time, has highlighted the importance of maintaining our local amenities, no more so than our very active village Community Centre.

Due to recent retirements, there are some vacancies on the committee. If you would like to be involved in helping run the Community Centre, please come along to the meeting or contact Melrose East, Chair, for further information – melrosemeast@gmail.com

Llangors Community Garden is the product of a partnership between Llangors School, Llangors Church and the Village Hall Committee. The school and the church are both eco focused bodies and they are working together to create a wildlife garden on some unused land at the relocated community play park site near the village hall.

On Thursday March 10th a coffee morning was held in the Community Centre to raise funds to support refugees fleeing from Ukraine. It was very well attended by people from all around the Lake and beyond. Many people had donated cakes and raffle prizes. 

Anne Evans and Chris DeManuel were extremely busy serving teas and coffees all morning.

As well as the coffee morning, donations were received from Llangors Church, Pennorth Chapel, Castle Pub Llangors and Sheena’s Pilates class.

In total £2130 was raised. This is a phenomenal amount and will be matched funded by the National Westminster Bank, thereby doubling the amount raised for the DEC Ukraine Appeal.

New kitchen cabinets have been built in the kitchen in the Community Centre in Llangors. It is now looking very smart, clean and professional as you can see from the photo.We are extremely grateful to Powys County Council’s Covid Community Recovery Fund for giving the Centre a 50% grant towards the cost of purchasing the cabinets, new tables and crockery.
