- Judging of the limericks, sentence and photograph will take place at 3.30pm
- Egg Throwing competition will take place at approx.4.30pm and the Tug of War at 4.45pm
- Enjoy a cup of tea and homemade cake or an alcoholic drink if you prefer!!

Crocus Planting – Purple4Polio Campaign
January 6th
Sunday morning saw a group of local residents plant crocus bulbs on the triangle in Llangors. 500 bulbs were given by Brecon Rotary Club to plant in the village, to help raise awareness of the efforts made to eradicate Polio across the world. This is a national campaign and thousands of crocus bulbs have been planted around the country (Purple4Polio Campaign).
Lake Players’ Amazing Donation
WOW! Clue Murder performed by The Lake Players last month (written and directed by Alan Lodge) raised an amazing £1,300.00 for local causes!
£450.00 was presented last Thursday to Melrose East for the Llangorse Play Park equipment as well as £200 for the Llangorse Youth and Community Centre (see bottom left). £200 has also been raised for the Llanvihangel Talyllyn Village Hall with a further £450.00 for local churches.

Hall Chosen for Co-op Community Fund
Llangors Youth and Community Centre is very pleased to announce that the Play and Recreation Park has been chosen by the CO-OP store as one of its charities in the next round of the Local Community Fund. We would like you to support us by raising as much money as possible over the next 12 months.
What do you need to do?

Support for Refugees
Llangors Youth and Community Centre is proud to support Hay, Brecon and Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees (HBTSR). The charity provides important ‘Respite Days’ for people living in South Wales, mainly in Swansea but also in Newport and Cardiff, as well as Syrian families who have been housed in Powys under the Government’s Resettlement Scheme. People seeking sanctuary have fled from war, torture and/or persecution in their own country and many will face ongoing hardships in Wales with a risk of falling into poverty or homelessness.
Maintenance work at the Community Centre
It has been necessary to undertake major maintenance work at the Community Centre due to the boiler breaking down during the summer and lights not meeting the required standard.
The project has four specific aspects:
- Replacement of the outside lights, 7 of which act as emergency lights and do not now last the required 3 hours. The new lights would be LED and light downwards.
- Changing the tube lights inside to the Hall, Foyer and Meeting Room to LED lights giving a significant saving in electricity costs.
- Installing a new boiler to replace the existing boiler which no longer works. The new boiler will be significantly more efficient in itself and coupled with alterations, to include replacing an immersion heater serving the kitchen, and adding climate controls will also lead to more economic usage.
- Connecting the 7-5 kw of solar panels, which we financed ourselves, to a new well insulated tank to augment the heating from the boiler.
These new improvements will significantly benefit Llangors Youth & Community Centre to continue to serve the local and wider communities.

We are very grateful for a donation of £1,500 from the Sri Lanka curry evening towards the amount we need to provide.
The boiler firm are due to start on Wednesday 3rd October and to finish on Friday 12th. The other items will follow on later in October.
Village Telephone Kiosk
Llangors Village Telephone Kiosk
This iconic red kiosk in the village was purchased by Llangors Youth and Community Centre on September 26th 2016 from BT for the sum of £1. Since then a lot of work has been done by a few committee stalwarts in their spare time, in between rugby matches and the weather – either too hot or too wet!
You will notice that the telephone kiosk is now a bright, shiny, red colour and will shortly have glass panels at the top with the words ‘INFORMATION’ and ‘GWYBODAETH’ (‘Information’ in Welsh) written on.
Eventually the kiosk will be equipped with tourist information leaflets and a notice board where people can advertise their events or businesses.
Hopefully it will be finished soon, before the rugby Internationals start again!
