CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF LLANGORS PUBLIC INSTITUTE

In 1924, 100 years ago, Llangorse Public Institute was established with the aim of providing a public building in the village for the use of the residents.

A letter went out far and wide to ask for donations and as a result the old village hall was built and the rest, as they say, is history.

We will have a table at the Llyn Syfaddan History Group Celebration weekend in Llangors Community Centre, which will display many interesting items from this time including letters, photographs, minutes etc . We are also asking people to record their recollections of times spent in the hall.

Boules Tournament 2024

On Sunday, September 1st, the annual Llangors Boules Tournament took place on the old village hall site, with 10 teams entering the competition. During the afternoon, the teams were slowly whittled down to two, with reigning champion Izaak Duffy and his partner Robbie Davies competing against veteran Robert East and Matthew Drew in the final. The close fought match was eventually won by Izaak and Robbie. They received the coveted trophy from Melrose East, chair of Llangors Community Centre.

Refreshments were provided during the afternoon for the competitors and spectators. Thanks to Sam Ridge for cooking the beef burgers and hot dogs. They were swallowed down with a nice glass of wine or beer depending on your tipple!
